Shashamane is a small town in Ethiopia. It became one of the cradles of the Rastafarian movement because the Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassi, who had good relations with Jamaica, encouraged Jamaicans to settle in Shashamane during his reign (1930 to 1974). With them reggae came to Ethiopia, and “Shashamane” host Endale Mekuria, who has lived in Germany for ten years, took reggae with him to his restaurant, which moved to the center in September.
