As a child I was already attracted to Africa. It started at school, I had several Congolese girlfriends.
My wish to have children was not concluded with two children of my own and my husband and I adopted two more African children.
Now my family was complete!
The longer the more I came into contact with Africa. On the one hand, I was forced to find out how best to take care of African hair. On the other hand, I think it is only normal that my two African children know their roots. That is why we eat African food every week, go to African parties and have also been to Africa on vacation several times.
My children grew up and I felt like doing something else professionally. And what could be better than being able to combine your hobby with your work. In 1989 I started Voodoo. A few years later I felt that there was a need for an Afro hair salon, which I started in 1990.
In the beginning, that was certainly a sense of what was good in the market.
I have tried different things, for example clothing, Dutch wax, African art, …
Now I have come to a balance between my afro hair salon and African shop.
I work in it daily and I enjoy doing it! I have a very varied audience and I find that so fascinating.
